When I first heard about the World Race a few years ago, a friend in my small group announced she would be leaving for nearly a year. I immediately fed off her passion. I was so excited for her to serve God in this way! “That’s great for you!” I said, “I could NEVER do that!” Yet, here I am, years down the road, standing at the same starting line. I think God has a pretty funny sense of humor in that way.

God continued to grow a desire to serve His people across the world. Last summer I was mildly considering applying for the World Race. What I mean by that is my prayers looked a lot like this “God, is this something you want me to do? (But I know you really don’t!)” I wasn’t truly open to the thought of uprooting my life for almost a whole year. I played things safe, I didn’t get to go on adventures like that, I didn’t get to make grand displays of faith like that. I didn’t have what it takes.

Through all the hardships that the past year has thrown at me, God has been my rock. I continued to pray for opportunities to step out of my comfort zone to serve Him. I prayed to know Him more and know Him better. I knew I wanted to do missions abroad, and found a great trip to Colombia for a week. I think God loved my enthusiasm, but little did I know He had much bigger plans in store for me. Far above and beyond what I could dream up for myself! As I began to pray again about the World Race (for real this time), I was journaling, asking for God to be ABUNDANTLY clear if this was His will, if I was supposed to go. Before I had even finished writing the sentence I felt Him say to my heart “I already have.” Needless to say, I’m not one to argue with God!

So here I stand, at the edge of the boat, ready to step out onto the crashing waves! Ready to love those who He loves and pursue His heart around the world!

Now to address that title of “About Me.” Let’s see, how to describe myself…

  1. I absolutely love to read. If I could time travel, I would seriously just keep going back in time so I had more time to read. You might say this is a waste of a time travel…I strongly disagree.
  2. I wholeheartedly believe puns are severely underrated form of humor.
  3. I tend to be a fairly outgoing person. If you’re at all willing, I have no problem chatting you up about any topic. My friends tell me I’m bubbly, charismatic, and sassy, so you can expect lots of smiles, laughs, and excitement from me pretty much all the time!
  4. I’m pretty clumsy, but I’m hope it comes across as endearing rather than exasperating. Let’s just say, it’s best not to distract me while I’m walking, I have a difficult enough time not tripping when I’m fully focused!
  5. Finally, and most importantly of all – I. Love. Jesus. I am on a neverending pursuit of deeper relationships with him. He is my everything, and I cannot wait to delve deeper into His vast mystery as I embark on this journey!
