Hello beautiful people! I am now in Cambodia in the beginning of month 5 of my Race! This country is beautiful and so full of history, in a weird way it reminds me of Haiti, the landscapes and smells. We had debrief in Siem Reap at the AIM base where we were able to relax and recap the last 4 months. Our wonderful coaches came out to spend some time with us, it was so good to see them and connect, and we even got team changes!

Meet team Freedom Writers!

Not to be confused with our biker gang, Freedom Riders. 😉

I LOVE these girls so much! We chose the name Freedom Writers because we all felt so much freedom with the new team they placed us with, and we want to write that into our stories wherever we go. I can’t wait to get to know them on a deeper level, share stories, discover God together and just have fun. These next few months with them are going to be awesome, I just know it.

Our team was also given ATL for the month. ATL means “Ask The Lord” and it basically means that instead of Adventures in Missions setting us up with a location and ministry for the month, we are on our own to figure out how God wants to use us here this month. We are able to choose where we want to go and do in the city. So we took some time at debrief to pray and look up cities around and my team settled on Phnom Penh, the capitol.  We found a place with some local Christians here and we are getting settled in. We have several ministries and ideas on our radar, but I would love to share more with you about what we actually end up doing. So please be praying that we would have open ears to what God is calling us to. We are striving for unity in our new team and also want to work hard for His Kingdom and make friends in this region.

Before I stepped out onto the field with the Race, ATL made me nervous for some reason. Like it was such a daunting task I wasn’t sure if I would be ready when they assigned it to us. Like, what if we don’t end up going to the place we should or, what if we have a hard time making connections, and what do we do without a host? But now that it’s our task for this month, I’m super stoked. I am so excited to make my own schedule, listen to what God says and simply follow where He leads. I can spend as much time with Him as I want, since this is an opportunity to dive deeper with Him having a month just dedicating prayer. I feel so much freedom in my journey that this is a thing. I’m very happy, but it’s only day 4 of our month so I hope it’s an amazing experience. So to other Racers doing ATL for the first time or third, you got this. Just be love.

I just want to say thank you for your prayers and support! It means so much to me and my teammates. I miss my family and friends so very much, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. See you soon.

Love, peace, and hugs,

                               Mego.
