Hey guys, I’m officially in my first country in Asia! Woo hoo! Vietnam is amazing.
I can’t believe Europe is over, I’m done with the first leg of my Race. I’m onto month 4 already! Life moves so fast. I’m so excited to be here, and Vietnam was one of the countries I was most excited about. I have never visited Asia before but had loved the culture for a while, and I didn’t know much about Vietnam besides what I’ve been taught in textbooks, their Pho, nail care artists, and my awesome 1/4 Vietnamese boss, Amanda! (Miss you!)
This country is beautiful. So so beautiful. Warm air, we are living in Da Nang which is right on the beach, the mountainside is so lush and full of life. And more than the scenery, the people are wonderful. Some of the kindest people I’ve ever met. Everyone is smiling and saying hello to you, I feel so welcomed here. I’ve made a couple friends and it’s only day 2, wow. I feel so much peace being here.
Travel days were easy enough, but still an adventure. We left Sofia Bulgaria on Friday, and arrived in Ho Chi Minh on Saturday. We took a sleeper bus from there to Da Nang. 18 hours of just… yeah, it was okay. We’ll laugh about it later.
We experienced our first squatty potty as well, it was successful. No other comment on that.

I’m so happy to finally be here. We are working with a production called Merry Christmas Da Nang. They are hoping to reach about 3,000 people in the area. They’ve done shows in the past, and it’s all approved by the Government as long as they stick to the script 100%. This year they said that this is the first time the Gospel will be shared so explicitly.
The Vietnamese people have never heard of the good news of Jesus, and so when they hear some, they want to know more, they’re interested! Which is so so cool.
We will also work at Papa Pizza, a restaurant our co-host owns and teach English there. That’s just the basics, we have a lot of other odd jobs as well, including homeschooling some missionary families here. Right up my alley, thanks mom and dad. 😉
(I also don’t have a lot of pictures of the city yet to add, since I’m still coming off of jet lag and we’ve been going non stop.)
Just like for last month I prayed I would love Bulgaria, God brought that so abundantly. This month I prayed that I would also love it, and I had a feeling that it was going to be something big. An amazing month so full! So it looks like God is answering with a yes so far! He is just goodness and faithfulness. Oh I love Him.
If you had told me two years ago I would be working with other missionaries in Vietnam, I would have laughed and ran away. I for sure couldn’t do that…
How crazy is it that I get to live this life, spending a year seeing this great big world He has made, loving the people He handcrafted in His image, learning more about myself and who He made me to be, loving Him and growing closer to Him everyday? Oh my goodness gracious, I couldn’t be more grateful.
I’m so glad I said yes. Everyday I choose yes.
