Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to South America!
We are so excited to finally be here after 80 hours of travel. Yes, 80. We’ve been in 6 countries in 3 days: Myanmar, Thailand, China, U.S., El Salvador, and Colombia.
Travel started on the 22nd at 4 a.m.
We saw a famous K-pop band and a plethora of screaming Asian teens in the Thailand airport. Now I can say I’ve seen someone famous at the airport.
China was cold. :] And we had a 24 hour visa so we could walk outside the airport. I can say I’ve been to China.
We lived through Saturday the 23rd TWICE. Freaking time changes.
Had a nice 20 hour break in San Fransico and got to see some family!
And made it to Colombia by the night of the 24th.
Colombia is so amazingly beautiful. The weather is a dream, it’s slightly cool with some light rain every now and then. Greenery everywhere and the sun isn’t beating down relentless. The food is way too fantastic. I will pick up many recipes and I’ll have to up my workouts as well to compensate. I think I loved Asia a lot, but I might just thrive down here.
Although, my Spanish is lacking and not very many people speak English, so what a great way to learn! We’ve been submerged into this culture and I’m pretty excited.
This is like a breath of fresh air.
But now we are getting settled in here in Medellin. (Pronounced Mede-jeen) We are working with YWAM established here. We live in the staff house above the children’s home a floor below us. Some days we help out with the kids, doing homework, playing. I tutored in Spanish
, like what on earth is going on? But the days we aren’t doing that we will be helping with the donation center next door, or helping with lunch. Really just like any other ministry we’ve been partnered with we just do whatever needs come up. So the end of the month could look completely different than what we have started out with.
We’re trying to catch up on sleep and a new time zone. I’m now only 2 hours difference from home. Woo hoo!
And that’s basically what my week has looked like! The most travel I have, and will probably ever do in my life.
¡Adiós por ahora!
