I cannot believe that our time in Africa is already over. I am currently sitting in our guesthouse in the thick air of Cambodia, and taking some time to reflect on the last three months. Following are some of the things that made Africa so memorable.
-Holding handshakes longer than 30 seconds
-Dancing for hours during a church service
-Nsima, Sadsa or pap, the go to meal for any African. (tasteless cornmeal mixture)
-Laughing every night with our Malawian host family at dinner
-Wearing “wraps” in Malawi when out in the villages so we could fit in more (ha)
-Attending an 8 hour, cross over prayer service to bring in the new year. 8pm-4am
-riding in a 15 seat van with 19 people; 8 of which were drunk and one was eating a raw fish
-Traveling for over 35 hours in a van of 67 seats and 88 people
-Working in a Soup kitchen to feed the homeless in Zimbabwe
-Hanging out with the awesome young adults group at Bulawayo Baptist Church
-Watching Averi use her passion for art by painting a Nursery
-Leading Bible Studies in the streets
-Watching people get healed through prayer
-Spending three days in the wild hanging out with the elephants, zebras and lions, and our awesome host, Jeff.
-Jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge
-Sharing one stove top burner with up to 12 people
-Hiking up a mountain with the staff and volunteers of Cru (Campus Crusade)
-Sharing the gospel to numerous people and walking some through the prayer of accepting Jesus
– Enjoying the adventure of bucket showers and squatty potties
-Dancing for hours at an African Bri (BBQ)
-Trying to say hello in various tribal languages.
-Hugging a lot of strangers I now consider friends.
Enjoy this video recap of our time in Botswana!
