Hello friends!!
We have officially been in Kosovo for over a week and I wanted to fill you in on the amazing ministry we get to be a part of this month. We are serving with a church called Fellowship of God’s People, and they really embody this name. They are always including fellowship in everything they do and really make the church their home and safe place.
I have been blown away by the stories of our new friends in this church. Kosovo is 96% Muslim, therefore nearly everyone in the church converted from Muslim families. They have had to depend on God through being isolated or misunderstood by their families and friends, which has made their church family all the more important. I have a great respect for each of them as they consistently and passionately share the gospel in a place that does not want to accept it.
Here are some of their ministries that we have seen and experienced this last week
The Warehouse: On Wednesdays and Fridays we have been helping out in their warehouse where they sort through donated clothes and accessories. There are three second-hand shops that they have created in and around Pristina. This is an opportunity to support their church as well as being present and available in the community. I LOVE thrift shopping, so I was excited to hear that we would be helping out in this way.
Outreach: Tuesdays and Thursdays we get to join their church in outreach efforts. The last two outreach days we have been passing out little booklets with the history of the Albanian alphabet. This alphabet was created 200 years ago by a Pastor. It is a creative way to put Christian material in people’s hands and to start a conversation. A lot of people here know English, which has helped my team connect! We invited several people to come spend time with us on Sunday during the service and then fellowship after. Please pray with us that the Holy Spirit will guide our new friends to walk into the church this Sunday and hear something from Him!
Children’s meeting: Saturdays are for the kids! We loved our first kids meeting last weekend. Kids from all over the neighborhoods come for a morning of worship, games, a lesson and more games. Out of the group of 30-40, only a handful walk with Jesus, yet they still all keep coming back. Pray with us that their hearts would be open to accepting Jesus soon!
Teen meeting: Same as children’s meeting, young people from the neighborhoods come together for fellowship, games, worship and a lesson every week. We loved practicing their English with them and learning their Albanian slang!
Other than these four main ministries, we start every morning in prayer with the whole church staff, we have attended their Wednesday night Bible Study, and their Thursday night prayer time. We are enjoying getting to know the people and the area and our hearts grow bigger for their ministry each day. We are already starting to feel sad that our time here is short. We hope we can bring encouragement to our friends who are here long term and are praying for a revival in Kosovo. Thanks for reading, I wanted to attach some pictures, but our wifi has been very slow the last couple of days…hopefully I will get those up sometime soon:)
Blessings!
Megan
