Hey friends and family!
After over 48 hours of travel, my team and I have finally arrived to our ministry site in Kosovo!!!! Our journey included a twelve hour layover in New York city, an over night flight to Norway, a connecting flight to Belgrade, Serbia, a shuttle and then finally a 7 hour night ride on a bus through the country of Serbia, that would take us to our final destination. WOW. I thought I knew what exhaustion was, but I had no idea. However, God allowed me to still see him through my sleepy eyes. My team of six women was on our own to get from Serbia to Kosovo. This could have caused fear, but before we set our foot outside of the airport he filled us with such a peace and confidence. I felt led to pray over my team and asked God to send honest and kind people with good intentions to cross our paths. Man did he answer!
A nice lady on our shuttle spoke no English but helped us at the train station by talking to the lady selling tickets. We couldn’t understand her, but I imagined her saying, “these girls have no idea what they are doing, they speak no Serbian, be nice and help them out.” And that was just what the ticket lady did. Next, we found something to eat before our bus left, and I way over paid for our meals. There was a man watching and told me in broken English that I gave way too much and the lady at the cashier gave a sweet smile and gave me the right change back. Lastly, while we were on the bus there was an older man who sat close to us and would look back every so often. I did not know what to think of this at first, but eventually we tried to strike up a conversation with the three phrases I knew in Serbian and the 6 words he knew in English. Throughout the ride he would help us by signaling when we were stopping for a bathroom break, when the boarder patrol was coming on the bus to check our passports, or waiting for us at a break so the bus wouldn’t leave without us. How cool that God listened, cared, and provided what we requested in prayer—an honest cashier, a kind shuttle lady, and the older man with good intentions. Never forget the power of prayer, friends.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
These last two days have been filled with many challenges, transitions and trials to overcome, but we couldn’t be happier to have arrived and sense Jesus with us in each step. Our ministry hosts are amazing, their stories are beyond inspiring, and I feel honored to know them and be a part of their kingdom work for the next three weeks. I will post again soon to give more detail on what we are doing for ministry this month! Love you all, thanks for reading!
