Throughout the past several years, the Lord has been at work in my life in crazy ways! I have been through some of the most beautiful times, and some of the most heart-wrenching, grueling seasons of my life. Through it all, He has been fashioning and forming me into who I am today. His blessings overflow and his grace and mercy are new every morning.
Since graduating from nursing school, I have taken on many roles. I have been an ER nurse, a youth leader, a charge nurse for the Red Cross, and most recently, a dog trainer. That last one tends to throw everyone for a loop (including me when I started really considering this idea). However, God works in mysterious ways. It is insane what He is teaching me about life, relationships, and His character through the process of helping people and their dogs find a better life together! All I can say is, He knows what He is doing. Who am I to question it??
One thing I’ve learned is that I’m wildly in love with my Savior. I just can’t get enough of Him these days. Jesus is the air I breathe, my sustainer, my life. He is who I ride into battle with. He is the romancer of my heart. Through Him springs a passion for people – their stories and what makes them tick.
If I had to narrow down my life’s desire to one thing for who “Megan Bassett” would become, it would be this: that I would learn to live, breathe, and walk as Jesus did. I want to be contagious with the likeness of Jesus. Beginning October 2019, I have been given the opportunity to further dive into this desire – learning how to live as a “modern-day disciple,” traveling and spreading the love of my Father throughout the nations.
COLOMBIA | ECUADOR | PERU | LESOTHO | SOUTH AFRICA | SWAZILAND | INDIA | NEPAL | UKRAINE | MOLDOVA | ROMANIA | Right now, these are not much more than words on a page. However, starting in October, each of those countries will begin to come alive month by month.
Names. Faces. Stories. A Landscape. Life. Love. Laughter. Heart-Wrenching. Beauty. Redemption. Grace. These are some of the realities I imagine will begin to replace the mere words listed above, as I embark with a team of others on an 11-month mission trip called the World Race. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution because of human trafficking, and bring hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
One of the most exciting aspects is that my team and I won’t be the only ones with the opportunity to experience the transformation, as God breathes life into the countries listed above. With excitement and trembling, I invite you to come along on this journey with us!
While on the trip, I will be making frequent blog posts about our journey and the realities that each of these precious countries hold. My desire is to make it as real for you reading along, as it is for me living it. I will also be posting blog posts, perhaps a little less frequently, during my season of preparation leading up to the Race (so stay tuned for these!)
In order to accomplish all of the above, I will need your support. First, and foremost, I need prayer-warriors to surround me and my team with your prayers! Prayer and encouragement go a long way. In times like these, it’s usually much easier to hear the lies of the one who would seek to steal, kill, and destroy.
