I am so happy that I have the opportunity to serve here at Dunamis and share with you all that they are and all that they have been doing. Dunamis is a non profit organization that has been around since 2012 started by Boris and Fernanda when they got a calling from God after serving a group of three young single mothers. The greek word Dunamis means “power” this word was sparked in their heart because they “knew God was calling them to serve Him in a powerful way by assisting more young ladies who had been victims of abandonment, abuse and even sex and labor trafficking.”
“Dunamis serves girls who have mostly been victims of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment. They reside in Zoe’s Home where they learn the Word of God, receive counseling and learn life skills such as sewing, beauty and tagua workshops. They also continue their education and have medical and psychological help. The young ladies are exposed to a Christ-centered holistic development program.” Dunamis has been able to help over 400 victims of human traffiking, sexual abuse, and domestic violence. When they arrive these girls are provided with an environment of trust and protection. The girls will stay here for about 6 months then they will go and live with a family member if it is safe where they will be or they will stay at Dunamis until they are 18 and continue to take classes and learn more about how they can take care of themselves when they are adults.
There are more then 40 million victims of human trafficking around the world each year that are reported cases. 83% of those victims are women. In Ecuador 7 out of 10 women experience situations of violence in their life.
How can you help? You can help by praying for the girls that come into this foundation and many other organizations as well as the girls that are still out there. Bring awareness to this problem and make it known. Donate to the Dunamis foundation. Or even come and volunteer at Dunamis.
