Team changes…it’s a thing that happens on the race and if you’ve followed my journey at all, you’ll know that we’ve already had 1 team change. Well, it’s happening again. After this month, my current team — Suze, Jada, Bre, Maggie, Mallory and I — will no longer all be together. It’s weird and a little scary to go into team changes but I know our leadership takes the changes to the Lord and He is ultimately the one who decides what the teams will look like — that gives me a lot of peace!
This team change is a little different because we got a say in what our teams will look like.
Obviously, we don’t get to choose our entire team but we did get to tell leadership 2 people from the squad we felt we wanted to learn from. I sat with the Lord and I asked Him what He wanted to teach me during the rest of the race. From there, I asked Him, ‘who on the squad has these gifts or attributes?’. He highlighted 2 names and I trusted that they were from Him.
But with team changes, I want to honor my current team and give you a little peak into who they are and some of the things I’ve learned about each of them in the last 3+ months!
I’m going to start today with SUZE!! This month is month 8 of being on a team with Suze…and let me tell you, it has been one of the sweetest gifts to get to do life with this woman for the past 8 months. I love her so deeply and I’m so thankful that we have had the opportunity to be together this long.
It hasn’t always been easy for us…we don’t always get along…but we ALWAYS sit together in the hard and talk through it with understanding and grace. She takes constructive feedback to the Lord and circles back when hard conversations are brought up. She is bold, confident and wild in the best way!
I remember at training camp, I thought Suze didn’t like me. I thought I didn’t want to be on a team with her because of fear of not being pursued or known by her…but let me tell you…she has completely obliterated those thoughts with the way she has pursued and loved me.
Suze has a heart for others. She loves deeply and purely and her desire is never to leave someone out. She strives to make everyone feel loved, known and valued in every space they walk into. Suze (along with Cami-from my original team, Fiercely Loved), helped in getting me completely addicted to Snickers [but they’re healthy, right? They have peanuts…?], she loves all forms of snacking, and she loves the snugs (snuggling).
Suze has a zeal for life and loves adventure and activities. She is a hard 7 on the enneagram, which basically means she is an enthusiast! She reflects God’s childlike spirit and delights in creation, and has a love for the world. She also loves spontaneity, is always up for an adventure and has a boundless love for life. Suze brings laughter and joy to the room and she fights for what is right.
There have been multiple times this month already that I’ve thought of the idea of not being on a team with Suze during the last leg of the race…and every time I break out in tears. She has spiced up my life the last 8 months and imagining the next 3 without her in it is difficult. (Who knows, maybe she’ll be on my next team! 😉 )
Suze has, to say the least, changed my life. She has been a faithful friend and I know she will continue to be for the rest of my life. She loves me deeply and I never doubt that love. The hard conversations we’ve had have only brought us closer to each other in a deeper intimacy.
OOO SUZIE! I love you lots sister!
