I saw that yesterday was national Rescue Dog day…so in honor of my sweet dog I rescued, I want to post a blog with a few pictures…and a twist!
My parents have been taking care of my sweet Rayah since I left and she LOVES THEM! Also, they adore her. It might actually be hard for me to convince my dad to give her back to me when I come home…(good thing I’m going to live with y’all for a while so I can ween you off, mom and dad!)
I am seriously so thankful for my parents’ openness and generosity in giving her a home while I’m gone and I honestly don’t think they’d have it any other way. When I came to them and told them the situation, they said without hesitation that they would keep her for me for the year.
Since being gone, I have thought so much about what adoption is and my dad has mentioned multiple times of how the fact that I brought Rayah in and adopted her, saved her life. (And she has completely changed mine too, if we’re being honest.) I know I’ve written a blog about her before but this is going to be more about OUR adoption.
Yes, I helped saved Rayah and gave her a home where she is loved and taken care of. Our dog Brooke is her best friend (even though they have about 14.5 years of age difference) and my parents and sister play with her and keep her active and well fed.
Adoption is such a sweet thing to me! It is something the Lord has made very clear that I am supposed to do when I have a family. I have 6 cousins who are adopted and 2 of my best friends have adopted children and I’ve seen the beauty of adoption in so many families. But, really, we are all adopted…and it’s a much sweeter adoption than any adoption I’ve heard of on earth.
You see, as a believer, we are all adopted as sons and daughters into the Kingdom of God. We are called daughter, son, child of THE MOST HIGH KING.
The scriptures say, in Romans 8:15-17, ‘For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of SONSHIP. And by him we cry, “ABBA, FATHER.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.’
We have been called children of God. We are heirs of God and get to partake in His glorious riches He has waiting for us in heaven. NOW THAT IS A SWEET ADOPTION!
For it says that ‘In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ’ (Ephesians 1:5). Because of the bloody cross, our sins are washed white as snow and we are called CHILDREN.
Praise Jesus for adoption, praise Jesus for His mercy and grace!
