During the past weeks that we have been living at the Guatemala AIM base, so many cool things have happened. We have been poured into by the AIM team here through teachings and a bi-weekly Bible study, along with being graciously served by them. They have genuine hearts of love for our squad, which is absolutely incredible. So many wise words have come from them. We’ve also been poured into by Matt Blair (who also works for AIM), who visited for a few weeks, and by Seth Barnes – the man who founded Adventures in Missions and The World Race. Yes, THE Seth Barnes came to the base for a day and poured life and truth into our squad, which resulted in some awesome things from our guys.
I want to share with you all some random things that have been said by all of those people, just to give an insight into what I’ve been learning. Also, I’ve been reading a book called “The Supernatural Ways of Royalty,” (thanks Renee!) so I’m gonna throw some things from there in this list too. Most of these things are direct quotes:
Comfort is a poison to your soul.
It’s a privilege to walk through God’s crucible of fire. Don’t run away from the fire – run through it.
3 D’s: Be dangerous, be daring, be determined.
God makes us wait for things for our benefit and for the benefit of the Kingdom. He also makes us wait until we are ready. God’s timing is always right.
Isolation from community is when we are most prone to be tempted.
The only power that satan has over us is the lies that we believe.
Humility is not demeaning ourselves, but exalting God.
We don’t glorify God by saying we’re not great, we glorify Him by acknowledging that He is the source of that greatness.
We can be people of humility and still be confident in who we are. Unfortunately, confidence always looks like arrogance to the insecure.
If you read Luke 4:16-21, you’ll see that Jesus did the equivalent of today’s “mic drop.” It’s pretty awesome.
Your dreams are not your dreams – they’re His that He is letting you borrow while you have breath.
He doesn’t call us to achieve. He calls us to obey.
Love determines worth. We were counted worthy because we were first loved.
Humility isn’t thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less.
The more we step out in faith in what God asks us to do, the more He moves, and the more faith we have afterwards. (God usually asks for a step of obedience before He moves.)
When we walk in our royal call, our behavior is not determined by our temporal environment but by the eternal environment that lies inside us.
For a Christian, honor is a condition of the heart, not just the product of a good environment.
We want to deal with our enemies with honor not because they deserve it, but because we do. This is what it means to be honorable people.
I hope y’all enjoyed this list of random things. Remember today that you were bought at a high price because you were (and still are) seen as worth it. You are so incredibly loved and valuable and precious.
Peace and blessings,
Megan
