For the past 22 years of my life I’ve had some sort of routine or someone telling me what to do.  However, I recently graduated college with a degree in Art Education which left me wondering what now?  I felt the pressure of society to get a good job and be successful, so I started apply to jobs, even though I felt God pushing me towards something bigger.  I’ve felt this ever since I went on a mission trip to Haiti with my family in 2016.  I was struck with the contrast between my life full of material items and the lives of others who have less.  However, I realized that people who have less material items seem happier and content compared to the typical person who seems unhappy and constantly wanting more.  I’ve been thinking and praying a lot about this, and I realized that I don’t want or need more stuff, and instead crave Jesus, serving others, and creating meaningful relationships.

The World Race is an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries.  During this mission trip I will be working with local communities and churches to serve in orphanages, minister to woman and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, plant churches, and much more.  Even though the entire trip is daunting and way out of my comfort zone, I believe that by stepping outside of my comfort zone, I will be able to grow as a person.  I will officially be leaving this January and will be going to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and ending in Uganda!

My biggest challenge will be the desire to be independent and do things by myself, but I know that I can not do this by myself.  I not only need lots of prayers, but I also need to raise $18,100 which will cover all field expenses.  I’m looking for prayers, monthly donations, and single time donations, anything and everything helps!  In order to reach my goal of $18,100, I’m looking people to commit to donating for 11 months.  I will need 5 people to donate $100 a month, 10 people to donate $50 a month, 15 people to donate $25 a month, and 20 people to donate $10 a month. Adventures in Missions is a 501c3 nonprofit, and all donations are tax refundable.  If you feel moved to donate, you can either

  1. Donate with a credit or debit card on my blog at meganbecker.theworldrace.org
  2. Send a check made out to Adventures in Missions with my name Megan Becker in the memo line to Adventures in Missions, P.O. Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570

While I do need to raise funds to go, I will also need people supporting me through prayer and relationship.  I will be blogging prior to the trip periodically, and during the trip twice a week about my experiences.   It will include lots of pictures, what I’m struggling with, and what I need prayers for, so please subscribe to my blog!  If you know someone who would be interested in following my adventure, please don’t hesitate to share my story or contact information with them!   Thank you so much for your time!
