I’m yet another Racer, ready-but-not-ready to take on this enormous challenge. Eleven countries in eleven months, just long enough to become attached to the people we intersect with, and long enough that homesickness will become the daily digest. Departure date: July 2015.
When I’m not busy devouring contemporary Christian literature or grasping at straws during singing lessons (yea, I’m that bad), I am often found in the trenches of a busy Emergency Department, where somewhere along the way I picked up the title Registered Nurse. Don’t worry, I’ve already scoped out your veins and have plotted where I’d stick a really big needle. You can run but you can’t hide!
It took me 10 years of trying to do life My Way before only recently falling on my knees in surrender to the One who picked up my pieces. I’m still praying for the weeds-instead-of-seeds I planted along my destructive path. I suppose my degree of transformation is all the greater because of the depth of my sin, kinda like the prize for “Most Improved.”
I imagine the bits I deem minute may be interesting to you: I’m 27, live in sunny Sacramento, California, and am partly derived from my spicy Colombian mama whose prayers will make you teary. Her devoted husband/my dad is the guy who wanders around R.E.I. with me contemplating the merits of various Leathermans. Two older brothers can take the credit for molding me into a rather feisty young woman.
Feeling inspired? There are links on the left hand side for your appreciated financial donations. Prayers and words of wisdom&encouragement are also needed.
Thankfully,
Megan
