We talk a lot on the Race about saying yes to Jesus and the things He calls us to. Saying yes to coming on the Race; saying yes to community even when it’s hard; saying yes to ministry even when it’s not my favorite.

Many times we talk and think about the big things only. We miss the small moments of impact all around us. Those times when saying yes doesn’t shift the relationship or situation; those small moments that build together to show who you are and how you love people.

Here are examples throughout the race of simple moments of yes.

Peru:

Our host set up a day of traditional Peruvian fishing for us. I chose to go, try it out, and enjoy it. The things I caught that day were God’s joy, peace, and love.

One day all of my team except me went surfing. I stayed at the cafe and held all the baggage. My team didn’t have to worry about their stuff or me being miserable doing something I didn’t want to.

Ecuador:

I spent some time in the garden breaking up dirt clods so that the good soil could be spread evenly. A simple task that made the whole job more productive.
