I told Doska on Thursday that I would return the next
morning to check on her. God grabbed my heart and told me to fight for her. So
return I did.

We were supposed to get to the hospital at 7am when visiting
hours started.  Things didn’t run
so smoothly though, and we ended up getting to the hospital at 8:30…which just
so happened to be the time that visiting hours ended. The entire time I was in
the taxi, I was praying that God would have mercy on us and grant us His
favor…that we would be able to see Doska and let her know that we still cared.
We got to the gate and there was a small crowd of people trying their hardest
to get through, but the guard was not letting people through. Sam, our
translator told us to just walk up and go through…and we did. I suppose there
are some things that are cool about
being a Mzungu in Africa. Eventually we got to the room.

It was like coming home. Everyone’s eyes started to sparkle
and it was like I had just come to hang out with my friends that I had known for
what seemed like forever. It was like Life had swept through the room over
night. I saw smiles and waves from everyone. Including my hurting friend Doska.

We told her we were sorry for being late and that we wanted
to be there sooner. She was just excited that we came at all. She said that she
was doing fine despite the pain. She was so thankful for the prayer yesterday
and she appreciated us coming back to see her. Then a guard came to the door
and told us we needed to leave. Because he had a mean looking nightstick, I was
not about to say no to the man. We quickly said our good-byes and told her we
were here for her and supported her. She was grateful and you could tell that
her spirits were high; which I find very admirable seeing as to how she was beaten
and left for dead just two days prior.

Before I left though, I had to say goodbye to my other
sisters. I ran to my new sister in Christ, Joyce, and gave her a big morning
hug and said “Jambo, my sister! I looked around and saw Rose Mary walking to
her bed. “Wait! I thought, “Rose Mary is walking! And she’s smiling at
me and waving goodbye!
God is so good! The woman that I saw crying in
terrible pain was now walking about and smiling! The other ladies also waved
back at me with huge smiles. I left feeling like I was weightless. It was
almost like that hopelessness and helplessness I felt from the first two days
of hospital visits had been bound up and cast off with the blood of Christ. My
new friends were feeling better and it was written all over their faces!

As we were leaving the hospital, we were talking about how we
needed to do something. We talked about how she is a tailor and is now without
a sewing machine. We decided to set out on an expedition to see how much a
sewing machine would cost, in order to give something to our new friend- a
means to get her back on her feet. We’re still praying about supporting Doska
and looking into possible ways to give her a helping hand. If you could
continue to pray for our sister and for her recovery, that would be much
appreciated!

God’s Kingdom is coming to earth. I have these new friends
to prove it! I can’t wait to share all that God has taught me through these
four days. Yep, that’s right, I’m going to write a Part 5…I hope ya’ll stay
tuned!
