They call me McGraw…

Tim McGraw.

Last week, when the announcement was made that we would be losing a guy and gaining a girl, I saw it in David’s face. He was super upset. I absolutely DO NOT blame him! I can only imagine how it would feel to be one guy amongst 6 while traveling around the world and living with each other 24/7.
Then it hit me, something HAD to be done. I refused to not show him, in some way, that we appreciated him and that we knew he needed time to be a guy. And then the only image I had was each girl on my team with facial hair penciled on, belching, playing cards, and watching David’s favorite movie. That’s when I decided that Man Night was essential.
So last night, that’s what we did. We went to the store and grabbed the essentials: Mt. Dew, Chips, Skittles, Snickers, and popcorn. I had the thought, “We don’t have bowls to put the stuff in!” But then I came to my senses…”Guys don’t need bowls! GIRLS only use bowls!!” So we just threw it out all on the table. We threw up a sign that said “Man Cave” on the door and then had one of the other squad-mates tell him to come to the room.
We adopted manly posture and mannerisms (except for Glenalyn a.k.a. Magnus). When he walked into the door, we said, “Hey.” But our tough exterior didn’t last long when we all busted out laughing. We took a few pictures and then got to doing stuff that David liked. We played pictionary-telephone…but I can’t really tell you how it went except to say it was HILARIOUS! We exchanged a few belches. We did other manly activities. The night’s finale was sitting around our computer watching The Hangover.
Overall, I think it was quite a success. We’ve laughed more than I ever have on this team. One of the first feedbacks as our new team, I said I envisioned our team having fun these last few months and I wanted it to come to fruition. Last night was beyond fun…but I hope it doesn’t end there. We’ll have to figure out more theme nights for heaps of fun!

MAN…
