They Don’t Get It.

4.13.12

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as it’s own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”

(John 15:19)

What the world doesn’t get. Jesus talks about it all the time. You are not OF THIS WORLD but in it.

When the world continues to live in sin despite knowing about Jesus the are crucifying him all over again.
Let us be thankful if we ARE the ones that know God & God knows us…as it is not the world that judges us in the end, it is God. It would make sense that being in the world we would suffer and feel pain; that we would hear & feel the Father’s heart beat. That we would be persecuted or often feel out of place if we are following Christ. We are called to endure some of that suffering, pain, & heartache right along with him.
Today is “Good Friday” in Ukraine; I like it better known as “Passion Friday” as they say here in L’viv, Ukraine. Today I feel just a glimpse of what he felt. When he carried that cross…all the weight of sin of the world. He lived out the life of man, but perfect in nature, sinless. Then God decided to give him up…to allow the world to crucify his ONLY son. All because of love. This is what love was; that Jesus laid down his life.
I can’t forget what He did. I don’t understand how the “world” doesn’t see it. It breaks me. It breaks my spirit in two. My heart crushes. What a big weight Jesus carried. He didn’t quit carrying it; he always carries it. He says “It is Finished” (John 19:30)
Before he went to die on the cross he washed his disciples feet. His disciples weren’t perfect people but he said, “No servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” Jesus knew he was about to die but what a beautiful thing he did when he washed the feet of his followers.
Some people can hear these words but they can’t see it. As Isaiah says, “He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn-and I would heal them”. (John 12:40) Many people during that time saw Jesus perform all kinds of miracles in their presence and they still didn’t believe in him.

So what’s it going to take for them to believe? Those people that Jesus talks about that are “of the World”… ?
Jesus said as he was being crucified; “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”.( Luke 23: 34) I am not here to judge who is & who isn’t following Jesus, that’s God’s job. I am broken for those who don’t know him…who don’t feel worthy, who’s eyes are blinded shut.
I pray that God would open the eyes of their hearts and their minds so that they don’t crucify Jesus all over again…
I love how Jesus comforts his disciples before his death reminding Philip that the Father lives in him, and for him to at least believe in the evidence of the miracles he was doing. Then he says one of the best promises in the bible:
” I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may being glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in  my name, and I will do it.” – John 14: 12-14
Jesus is STILL alive. It’s no accident that right after that passage Jesus promises the Holy Spirit to his followers and he says that if you love him you will obey what he commands. Then the Father will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, “the spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees nor knows him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. “( John 14:17-18)

If you know God… if you know Jesus and you love & obey him…he gives us what we ask in His name when it brings glory to the Father & always guides us. He will not abandon us but he will come to us. Let him come to you…
Aghhh…Great truth. Selah. Thank You Father. Thank you so much. Let His love consume you.
