OH, CAMBODIA!

(YUP! That tree house you see is my house. In the middle of what I call the desert/jungle/farm! )

After a 12 hour bus ride back to Bangkok , 2 more bus rides, 3 hours of waiting in lines for border crossing the Cambodian border,(a total of more than 24 hours of traveling within several days) we made it to Cambodia! The Lord gave me the word "Jungle" for this month.

I am going to make this blog short & sweet because of our limited internet access but so far this month. However I am thankful to say we have the BEST internet access yet along the race. We are in the middle of a small village in KAM POT about an hour from Phenom Phen, the capital of Cambodia.

This month has started out to be difficult & VERY busy! We have been getting up early & ending our days late. We have had the opportunity to teach English here to the students here at Light of Hope Church. The man who God inspired to start this ministry is Vootay (voo-tee). His story is incredible. Are you ready for it?

He started as a Tuk-Tuk (took-took) driver (golf cart like vehicles here used for transportation), and had an opportunity to drive around a YWAM team (Youth with a Mission) in 2006. This opportunity lead him to Christ. He then went through a DTS training in which he was called to start a ministry in his home town village. This ministry is blessed. We are currently working on construction for a project in which an orphanage will be built. So I have been shoveling dirt, rocks, sand, and pouring cement. Who said woman can't do construction & bare foot at that!

We also have been teaching English classes throughout the day here up until 6:30 at night. Anyhow the words "Lesson" & " Plans" were never any part of my intention to see again as I signed up for the world race. I know that the Lord is using skills that I have from previous years of teaching English Language Learners (which is what we are teaching now). Although it is difficult I know that the Lord has great plans….which always turn out in his favor. When I signed up for the World Race it was not for myself. It was to answer the calling the Lord had for me. In this, I am realizing to continue to die to myself…to live for Christ does mean to die to myself.

We are literally staying in a Tree House(Well Sort of!) as pigs, cows, chickens, dogs, and coconut trees surround us.  In fact cool story is the other day a man climbed up a coconut tree, knocked some down, and I got to drink right out of the coconut as a lay in a hammock. Hammocks are my new favorite thing.

This is not my ideal location but I DO know that God called me here. They just put in a shower (the YWAM team that is currently here which I am thanking God they did). I like to shower…  : )
Anyways…Not sure why but this month has just been really hard. Maybe the unbearable 90 degree dry heat that causes me to pass out every time we have a break. Or it could be the fact that farms were never really for me.

Ok well I know this blog was super random but this Month is just one of those random months so bear with me! More to come…
