As a senior in college with graduation fast approaching, the one question I get more than any other is “what are your plans for next year?” It was a question that I dreaded answering because I simply had no clue. Maybe grad school? Maybe work for a year? I always answered with “well I’m not exactly sure yet” to which the kind person would always assure me that I’ll figure it out. And guess what?! I did! I can now begin to describe what next year will look like. It looks like adventure. It looks like taking a leap outside of my comfort zone. It looks like taking 11 months to travel the world. It looks living life with people from all sorts of backgrounds. It’s the World Race. It’s being used by God to do incredible things that I can only dream of right now. It’s being able to use my passions to serve an amazing God.
For those who don’t know what the world race is, it is an 11-month mission trip to 11 countries with only a backpack. Although I’ve never backpacked or know the first thing about pitching a tent, I’m sure I’ll catch on quick. I will be going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. I am excited to venture out into cultures that are unknown to me and experience God in these 11 countries. The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed on what is going on in my life as I prepare for the adventure ahead of me. I will keep the blog going during the race and keep everyone updated on what I have seen, learned, and experienced. For those of you who know me, know that grammar and spelling are not my strong points. Stick with me, I know there will be many mistakes to come.
To finish, I ask that you pray that everything will go according to God’s will and that in this time of preparation, my heart will be prepared for what is ahead. There is a lot to do before launch in September including fundraising, buying gear and figuring out how to use it all and I cannot explain how excited I am about going on the race however, we are only promised today. Therefore, I ask that you pray for me to be fully present where I am. I have one semester of college and so many opportunities left and need to have my heart in Ohio as I finish out this adventure.
