Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. – Dr. Seuss
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you to all of you who have supported me in prayer, words of encouragement, by reading my blogs, asking questions, offering help, subscribing to these blogs, and donating financially!
Since training camp, I've been out of town so much with work. My room is an embarrassing half-packed half-frantic chaotic mess. Friday was my last full day at work. It's been nice to be able to unpack my tent to air it out finally (yep! It's been cooking since July 10th, YIKES!), start moving my things into storage, and check off a few items on my to-do list.
When I talk to people about my upcoming trip, there are always questions. Sometimes questions are complicated and the answers are simple. There have been questions about where we are going, what exactly we're doing, why aren't we going to fewer countries for a longer amount of time, what will we eat, where will we sleep, is this really a vacation?
The simple answer to all of it: we're going to show God's Love to people of the nations. There's no way we'll know exactly what that will look like, until we get there and see how He plans to use us. We do have a plan, but it's our plan and His plan will always trump ours. We will head out with love in our hearts and our belongings on our backs and we will love people the best way that we know how. And along the way, we'll learn to love better. To love our enemies and those who hurt us. To live in community and love each other well. But the simple answer is Love.
It's been an amazing and difficult 4.5 years working the 787 Dreamliner program as a Flight Test Engineer at Boeing. As someone who thrives on adrenaline, the job made sense and allowed me to excel. It's time for a little bit of a change. An intermission. To serve, help, and bring hope. This 1 year leave of absence is a gift that I cannot believe I have been given. So many doors have been opened to make this happen. One more huge thank you to all of you who have supported me along the way so far.
I've raised $1896.73 toward the $7400 that I am trying to raise to go on this trip. The total cost is $14,800 and I'm trying to raise half of it and provide the other half myself. Please know that if you feel called to donate, any amount is helpful!
