I’m here in the middle of Gainesville, Georgia to become a writer. And not just any writer. I want to write books that bring people closer to God. People all across America and all over the world.

Before I came to Georgia, I doubted that this dream could ever happen. I hoped, but I had no idea how to get there and without a visible path, my dream wavered.

But I’ve been in Georgia doing the Fellowship for exactly 2 months to the date and my dream feels stronger than ever! I’ve learned so much in these two months and the road ahead is clear. I’m on my way.

Here are the 4 steps to success that I’ve taken. Maybe they can help you too.

  1. You define your goals. When I showed up at the Fellowship, I realized that knowing I wanted to write books that drew people closer to God wasn’t enough. Things had to get specific. What is the unique value of this book? What is it going to say that is different than any other Christian book? What are people going to be able to take away from this book? Answering questions like this that really helped me narrow down my goals so I can move forward with a strong foundation and really understand the message that I want to convey.
  2. You talk to experts. One of the best things I’ve found here at the Fellowship was the plethora of leaders, experts, and resources available. I was quickly connected with Joe Bunting, who is a writer and founder of his own company designed to help writers become better writers. I have been asking him all kinds of questions about writing and the steps to take towards making my book idea a reality.
  3. You make action steps. These conversations with experts like Joe left me with a lot of work to do! Joe explained that I first need to create a book proposal, which structures my book and gives me clarity on my vision, so I have been hard at work getting that completed. Joe has also been helping me to create my own website! Get ready for the announcement of megangallear.com! It’s coming soon! It will be a great resource for my book updates and for material on spiritual growth. It’s action steps like these that help us continually move toward our goals.
  4. You keep moving forward. One of my favorite movies, Meet the Robinsons, has the catchphrase “keep moving forward” which was originally taken from a quote from Walt Disney himself. Walt Disney had a dream too and I often wonder if he was as intimidated about taking the steps towards his dream as I am about mine. But if there’s one thing I’ve realized it’s that dreams that are never taken off the idea shelf are dreams that are never actualized. It is so important to keep our eyes on the prize as we do the grunt work for our dreams.

So that’s where I’m at with my dream. It’s a continuous cycle of defining goals, talking to experts, and putting ideas into action.

I hope to keep this cycle going here at the Fellowship so that I can keep on this path towards becoming an impactful writer. My financial deadline is May 29th and I will have to have $6,000 raised. I am only $2,500 away from this goal. If you feel led to donate so that I can continue my time here at the Fellowship, please click the Donate tab! Thank you so much for all your love and support!
