Women in Africa carry their babies on their backs. All of them- moms, older sisters, cousins, aunts- they carry babies on their backs in capalanas. Capalanas are long pieces of very beautiful fabric that women use for so many things here, two of the most popular being for skirts and to carry their children. They bend forward, put the babies on their backs, wrap the capalana around the baby’s bottom and then tie it across their shoulders. It is the coolest thing!
So… you know me. I had to try it! ๐ The other day, I finally got the chance to tie a baby on my back in a capalana! As I was walking around outside (having a blast) bouncing the baby on my back and showing her the little baby goats- the Lord put something powerful on my heart. He spoke. He debriefed that moment to me. ๐

HE IS CARRYING ME. What a picture! He is carrying me. He is doing all the work. He is doing the all the walking. He is leading every step; it’s Him. He sees all. He goes before me and sees all that is around me. He orchestrates the next step and has a destination in mind always. He has a purpose for each destination and each journey.
I just sit there. I just sit in the contentment of Him and His presence. I just sit in the strength and the might of who He is and who that makes me. I just sit and I trust. I trust that He’s got me. I trust Him as He carries me to where His feet lead me and take me. I get to see all that He shows me and the amazing things He takes me to.
He cares for me. He takes care of me. He provides for me. He LOVES me. He blesses me. He takes me to places that I could never even imagine- Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us… – physical places like AFRICA that just knocks my socks off, places spiritually to where nothing matters but resting in His presence and in the beauty and might of His love, to emotional places like sobbing in worship services where African people are pouring their hearts out to Abba God in Portuguese as my team and I are in English- worshipping a God who is so beyond any barriers and also wanting to just SHOUT because I am so filled with JOY, even to places like community- where you live with ten other girls sharing a bathroom, but are so sharpened by deep community as it keeps getting deeper in Him, and just so many places more.
He carries us, His children. He cares for us. He leads us. He is sovereign and in control. He’s got us. He loves us. He takes us to places beyond all we could imagine. What a good, good Father!
Trust Him and rest in Him. He’s got you! ๐
