So I am a stereotypical girl and love a sappy love
story.  On the bus ride to Singapore I
decided to watch Beastly which is the modern version of Beauty and the Beast, a
movie I watched almost everyday as a young girl.  While watching this love story unfold I was
reminded of the greatest love story ever told.
You might of heard of it, it is about a father who sends his son to
suffer a horrible painful death to bring redemption to the nations.  To redeem his children and bring them back to
him.  God our father sent us a savior
Jesus and all through out the Bible as the story is told you see the love God
has for us, He is MADLY in love with us and it is absolutely beautiful.

In the movie you see Hunter romance this girl Lindy.  At first he
tries to win her over with extravagant gifts but then realizes he has to
be more personal.  Once he knows her he
gives her gifts that mean something to her.
As time is running out for someone to love him he takes her away for the
weekend and at this point he is madly in love with Lindy.  Something happens and he has to put her on a
train to go back home and has she is boarding the train she tells him “you are
a good friend.”  You can see the heart
break on his face when that happens.  It
was this point in the movie I heard God saying “this is what you say to me, and
it breaks my heart just like it is breaking his right now.”  I began to cry at that realization and how
much I just brush off the love that God is pouring out on me every day.   But there is a big difference between God
and Hunter.  In the movie Hunter is heart
broken and refuses to return Lindy’s phone calls and withdraws from her.  God on the other hand NEVER stops pursuing
us.  We break His heart over and over and
yet he still loves us and consistently pursues us.

Now of course in the movie everything works out and they get
together and he realizes that she loves him too.  But with God it is up to us.  Will we accept his love and fall madly in
love with him?  Or will we treat him as
just a friend?  Will we just go about day
to day not really put much thought into how we interact with our God who pours
out his love on us throughout each day?
I chose to press into the love he has for me.  To press into the truth he speaks over me
that I am beautiful and worthy of his love, not because of anything I did but
because he has chosen to love me.  I
challenge you to do the same.  Quit treating
God as a good friend and instead fall madly in love with the creator of the
universe who has chosen to love you.
