Over the past few weeks i have noticed a lot of death. Some has been people I knew personally, some friends losing lived ones, and still others just complete strangers. As we approach Easter Sunday we remember the journey to the cross and we remember that we have victory over death. Jesus was crusified and then buried and on the third day he rose from the grave.

For many of us this is something we have heard of our entire life or at least a large portion of it. At times I find myself forgetting the magnitude of what that means. Jesus DIED and then he rose from the grave and LIVES still today. He defeated death so that when we believe in him we do not have to worry about it any long. We no longer have to fear death because our savior has already defeated it.

It has been 6 years since the death of both my grandfathers and at the time their loss nearly broke me. I went through a lot of trial during that time and looking back I realize that I hadn’t yet grasped that Jesus had truly defeated death. With both of them death was slowing in coming and we knew that it was near. For many you don’t see it and it is sudden. This makes it all the more urgent that we share the victory we have. All the more urgent we share the good news.

When we out our faith and trust in Jesus we cross over from death to life. We die to our sinful nature and take in the nature of Christ. I know that death is a part of life but personally I would rarer live a life trusting in my heavenly father do that I no longer have to fear death. I don’t know what the point of this post really was but maybe someone will find it useful. Live you all and God Bless.
