Sawat dee kah everyone! Today was our first off day since we’ve been at our ministry site–We had an amazing breakfast that consisted of eggs sunny side up, toast with amazing honey, some kind of ham and some coffee. Then the seven of us plus Jiyp, Pastor and his friend piled into a truk—2 in front, 3 in the back and 4 in the way back(one of those being me)….it was VERY hot, and I definatly got sunburned on my arms and face. After an hour in the direct sun we arrive at Elephant Village! This is a place that people actualy live–there are elephants everywhere, and they walk around the little huts as if they were family pets. There were probably about 15 huts total in the village. They have elephant shows, and then you can pay 200 baht ($6 american) to ride an elephant. So up I went on the back of an elephant! We rode for about 30-45min around the village. The elephant, lets call him Horris, stopped for snacks here and there, and a couple potty breaks. Horris was a good elephant-he was about 15 years old. At first we were sitting on this seat on his back, but then towards the end the elephant driver let me sit on Horris’ neck! He was pokey-but very sweet. He let me play with his ears and pet his face 🙂 I’m pretty sure Horris is my favorite animal…when I look at him I can see a little of God’s humor shine through. It’s fun to think of what God was thinking when we created such goofy creatures. They are VERY smart though. Oh by the way—my new dream is to live in Elephant Village, take foreigners on rides and minister to the people. We will pray for that..hehe.

After visiting my new friend Horris the elephant, we went to the place that they make silk and silver. But sorry to learn that this time of year they don’t have the silk worms out. They are just threading the silk and making amazingly beautiful silk products. But we did see some very pretty jewelry.

All there is to say about the food is that it is EXTREMELY delisious, and there is LOTS of rice!!! I feel like I have gained 10 pounds just from eating rice morning, noon and night. But it is very good, and our hosts have been taking very good care of us. It is very hot here, and it has been a little difficult to sleep at night–but it’s been ok. Tomorrow we start ministry again, and we are going to some of the schools to teach english. I will post an update of that soon—I promise to have pictures soon! I am still working on it 🙂 Forgive me. Also-sorry if this blog seems a little choppy…I didn’t have much time to write. Love you all!
