This month is our Ask The Lord (ATL) month and in doing so
our plans have changed. It’s a crazy cool story about how we ended up here in Johannesburg but I will save that for another blog.

We are here in Johannesburg working with Door of Hope. They are an organization that seeks to rescue and receive any abandoned, aborted, abused and orphaned babies and
children from any source in cooperation with other agencies. Also to provide a temporary Christian home for all our babies and children whilst
seeking a forever family, suitable long term care or other permanent care for
each one. They have 3 houses — 2 baby houses and 1 toddler house. I work mostly at baby house 1 but we live
at the toddler house with 7 little guys — 5 boys and 2 girls. Due to South African laws I can’t share many stories or
recognizable pictures with you but I can tell you that living with toddlers has been fun! 🙂

As I said most of the month I will be working at the baby house most of the month so I
take care of 11 babies age 5 months to 1 year. It’s been crazy to feel like a
mother waking the babies up , spending all day with them, and then putting them
to bed before I go home. These children are precious and absolutely beautiful.
They can be tiring to spend the day with but they warm the heart. AND….if I
have a rough day it all turns around when I come home to 7 toddlers smiling,
giving hugs, and jumping into the bath. It’s crazy but I truly miss the
toddlers when I’m away from them and when I come home I just wonder, is this
what it’s like to come home to your family at the end of the day?

I thought it would be fun to give a very brief outline of my
day at the baby house. Know that this is subject to change based on the
children I play with and of course how they are doing….

5:30-6:00am — Wake up, go for a run/walk or quiet devo time
6-6:45 — shower, pack lunch, leave for baby house
7am — Arrive at baby house and see who is awake
7-8am — Wake babies, bathe, change, and clothe them
8-8:30am — Feed bottles and/or cereal (depending on big babies or small babies)
8:30-9:30am — play with babies
9:30am — Small babies go down for a nap (small babies are 6 months and younger)
9:30-11am — Play with big babies (6 months to a year)
11am — Bottle for Big babies and small babies begin waking up
12pm — Big babies go down for nap / Small babies have bottle #2
1:30 — Small babies got down for another nap
1:30-2:30pm — Lunch J
2:30-3pm — ALL babies begin to wake up
3-3:30pm — Change diapers galor and get into pajamas
4:00 — Small babies get bottle / Big babies get dinner J
4-6pm — PLAY Time!
6:00pm — Small babies go down for the night / Big babies get a bottle (I go
home)
7:00pm — Big babies go down for the night

*I go home around 6pm. So I begin the day by waking up the
babies and end the day putting them to bed. 11 hours playing with 11 babies….it
can be exhausting but at the end of the day when I place them in their beds and
kiss them on their foreheads and say a prayer it all seems worth it.

So…..this is my month this month…… chronicles of being a World
Race Mom are to come…..
