What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world and it’s not your typical missions experience. It’s a way for young adults to abandon a traditional lifestyle in exchange for a dramatic paradigm shift. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s Kingdom around the globe. The best part of the World Race is it’s merely the beginning of a life-long journey.
Why have a World Race?
Many people look at the World Race and get the wrong idea. They think it’s about young people seeing the world. The reality is that, while young people often sign up because of the adventures they know they’ll have and the world view that a year of global travel will give them, it’s really an initiation experience. On the World Race you learn about what God is doing on the earth and how to join Him in it. You learn to follow Christ into the unknown. You serve the least of these. You leave everything you know behind to find out who you really are in Christ.
Why do people go on the World Race?
Everyone wants to find their place in the world. They want to better understand what God is doing in it and how to join Him. And many want to go on a journey and pit their wits against a challenge that asks more of them than they’ve asked of themselves. They are hungry to measure themselves against that challenge.
They have a well of compassion that has barely been tapped. They want to be poured out as they see and touch the world’s needy.
They are representatives of an entire generation that has a sneaking suspicion that maybe they are on a path that is too easy. Maybe they have been tempted to sell out to a career track and a lifestyle that doesn’t or shouldn’t define them. Maybe the versions of themselves that the world is starting to see is not the best one….
How much does it cost?
The World Racers, on average, need to raise $15,000 in support.
What does the cost cover?
The funds that they will raise will cover all team costs once the trip begins. This includes:
Food & lodging as well as air, land, and sea travel. It also covers administrative costs, setup costs, coaching, debriefing, and training prior to and at the start of the Race.
What does the cost NOT cover?
The $15,000 does not cover personal spending money, travel to and from training camp, travel to the start point in July, return travel home from a major U.S. city at the end of the race, international medical insurance, and vaccinations.
With the exception of personal spending money, you are permitted to raise additional funds to cover these costs and be reimbursed. I will hopefully be raising some extra funds not only to supply my needs for vaccinations and such but also to support the local economy and fund a project God may lay on my heart during the trip (i.e. a well in Africa, orphanage in Romania, etc).
Where am I going?
I have signed up for the July 2010 Mystery Race Route. That means that I am trusting God blindly, that I will be traveling to the places He wants me to go to. I will be discovering the countries one at a time as they reveal clues to us as a team. Although I do not know my exact route, I do know 5 countries as of right now:
- The Dominican Republic
- Turkey
- Romania
- Cambodia
- Mozambique
**Plus 2 ATL Months where we “Ask the Lord” where He would have us in surrounding country.

First and foremost I would greatly appreciate your prayers as I embark on this journey.
Secondly, I would love to partner with you on this journey. As a missionary, we are responsible for raising all of the $15,000. I am seeking people to support me with whatever amount that has been laid on their heart. Whether is be $1.00 or $1,000, every bit helps!
**It is a 501(c)3 organization. We have a federal tax ID number that can be supplied to you.
