This summer I worked at Somerset Beach Campground with the Adventure Day Camp (ADC) program. This means I had the privilege to hang out with the same group of kids all summer ranging from the ages of 4 to 12. It was a lot of fun getting to invest and really get to know the same kids all summer long. There where some days that where very challenging and really pushed me out of my comfort zone, but thats when the most growth occurs in your relationship with Christ.

It was my last week working with the campers and all the counselors and I were really burnt out from the whole summer and I was finding it really hard to remain present. I was trying so hard to focus on the kids, but just felts so tired and distracted. Then God sent me one of the sweetest campers into my life this week. He had never been to ADC before, but he was so excited to be there! For the sake of privacy of the camper I will change his name to Ryan. Ryan is one of the sweetest boys you will ever meet and has the biggest heart. He was always looking out for the others campers needs making sure everyone had what they needed. I even saw him give his towel to another camper because he didn’t have one. He had a servants heart and he was only 12 years old! Ryan continued to amaze me all week.

The second day at ADC Ryan came up to me and said, “I want to tell you something, can I talk to you for a minute?” Ryan and I went outside and he told me he wanted to sing me his favorite song in his deep voice. I smiled and told him I would love to hear it. He then began to sing Amazing Grace to me with so much passion and joy from his heart. A smile spread across his face as he sang the song about his precious Jesus. After he finished the song he asked me, “Don’t you just love that song?!?!” I smiled and said. “That is such and amazing song! Thank you for sharing that with me, it means so much to me!” Ryan asked with no hesitation,“Do you know Jesus? Are you saved?” I said beaming from ear to ear, “I sure am!” Glowing Ryan said, “I am too!” I then hugged Ryan because I didn’t know what else to say because I was so blown away for the love that Ryan had for Jesus!

This little boy is so bold about his faith and wants everyone to know about Jesus. This totally blew me away that at such a young age he was so bold about sharing Jesus’ love.   Ryan reminded me how great our God is and that I need to be more bold in sharing His love with others. Why aren’t we as brave as Ryan about sharing our faith? I challenge myself and you to be brave and step out of our comfort zones and share Christ love with the world. We have nothing to lose!

So thankful for all the things the campers taught me this summer. One thing they taught me is to always choose joy in every situation!  I leave in just 10 days! I am so excited for what else God has in store!
