It was my birthday and I stood in an alley way under the cover of a tarp worshipping in Malaysia with homeless Chinese, Malaysians, and Indians and there was no place I would rather be. This alley used to be an alley filled with drugs and alcohol, but is now filled with the overflowing presence of God! I stood in awe of what I was seeing before my eyes because there is an oppression of Christianity in Malaysia. It is illegal for a Malaysian to be a Christian. The Chinese and Indian people have the freedom of the religion, but it is illegal for them to evangelize or pray for Malaysians.
One of the organizations we connected with in Malaysia brings church to the streets. They worship and bring the message of the love of Jesus to some of the most hopeless people in Malaysia. They translate the message into the different languages of the people so everyone can understand it. After the message they provide everyone with a hot meal and they all fellowship together. They are truly being the hands and feet of Jesus in Malaysia! In a place with so much oppression the light of Jesus shines even brighter! This is the kingdom of God on Earth!
The Christians in Malaysia are fearless. They have a passion and hunger for God like I have never seen before! They remind me daily that when we don’t need to let fear hold us back because we are solely to rely on the strength of God. When we step out of our comfort zone this is when we leave room for Jesus to guide and lead our steps. I can tell from the last few weeks I have seen God come through for me time and time again. I took that step of faith and prayed for the homeless man of the side of the street and saw him explode with joy. I have seen God answer prayers I thought where impossible! I dare you to take that step of faith and see how God shows up!
