A piece of my heart came to Malaysia! Let me back up a little…Uganda stole my heart three years ago and forever changed my life. My trip to Uganda challenged me to look beyond the American Dream of financial security and playing it safe. Jesus flipped my plans for the future upside down. I had a plan. I knew exactly what my future should hold. I would graduate with my bachelors from Spring Arbor University, go to grad school for physical therapy, and then graduate and live a safe and secure life. I would be living the American Dream! During my time in Uganda Jesus completely wrecked me. I surrendered my plans for the future and put them fully in God’s hands.

I now find myself in Malaysia hanging out with the leaders and children of the Ugandan Watoto Children’s Choir. This is choir of children who where orphans in Uganda and now have a family, education, and a loving environment to learn more about Jesus. That afternoon we ate with them, fellowshipped with them, and poured into them. The Watoto Choir does 2-3 performances a day which they love doing, but can be extremely exhausting. When you are constantly pouring out the love of Jesus, but never being poured into it can be exhausting especially when you are so far from home. That afternoon we simply lived life with our brothers and sisters from Uganda and encouraged each other. It’s amazing how God brought us together to encourage and uplift one another!

God never ceases to amaze me…I never thought I would be with the beautiful people from Uganda in Malaysia!!! God is so good! He is a God filled with surprises and gives us more than we can ask imagine!
