This blog title is catchy because, for those of you who didn’t know, the town that we have lived in this past month is called Gracias, Honduras. So I literally live in Thank you, Honduras.
So this past month, I have learned so much (ironically) about gratitude. I thought for my last Honduran blog post, I would take the time to reflect upon, and share with my followers and supporters, some of the moments I was most thankful for this month
1. Working in the kitchen with Yesinia, learning how to make platanos Hondureños and talking about the United States while pulling pieces of chicken off the bone (admittedly sort of a nasty job).
2. Jumping on the trampoline with Jaelle and Genesis (both 4 years old) and watching them double over with laughter when I chased or tickled them.
3. Having deeper talks with Annalise (10), talking about her dreams in life, what frustrates her, her favorite things and boys
4. Holding Hector (4 months) in that milk-drunk moment where he stops crying in the middle of the night, and waiting just a few minutes to put him back in his crib so I can get the extra baby cuddles.
*this is not me admitting to liking night shift
5. When Genesis would offer to help me with dishes or laundry
6. Zip lining with some of my teammates over the beautiful mountains, rivers and villages of La Campa, Honduras
7. Riding in the back of a pick up truck
8. Reading Dr. Suess to the kiddos
9. Cristofer’s smiling giggles when you kiss him on the cheek
10. Feeding Yosimar: his joyful heart and laughter
11. Watching Genesis dance wildly to worship music
Please continue to keep the Goodwin family in your prayers as they open a home for abandoned children, and pray for each and every kiddo (present and future!) to be adopted by a god fearing, loving adoptive family!
