HEALING.
This word can evoke different thoughts and feelings in each of us. Some of us think of physical healing, while others think of emotional or spiritual healing. But there is one thing that is certain when it comes to healing: we all recognize its existence. Have you ever gotten over a cold or some other sickness in your life? Have you had a successful surgery? Have you experienced heartbreak and come out on the other side of it stronger than before? If so, PRAISE JESUS! You have experienced healing!!!
In the book of Acts, Jesus' followers witnessed and performed many miracles and healings by the power of the Holy Spirit. The apostles were able to speak in many different languages in order to spread the Gospel. Thousands of people became believers. A 40-year-old crippled man walked for the first time in his life. The sick were healed from their diseases. Evil spirits were cast out. Saul, who was a persecutor of Christians, began to follow Christ. And these are just a few examples! There were truly miraculous events that occurred, yet many of us tend to think of them as "just stories" or "a thing of the past." This completely breaks my heart because it is completely false. The Spirit of the Lord is still in the healing business, and I believe that with all my heart!
Sadly, our society has helped to further confuse us when it comes to healing…
I think the term "healing" often has a negative connotation when we speak of laying hands on someone and praying for them to be healed. This is, no doubt, due to many current-day false prophets who use healing as a means of putting on a "show;" for entertainment purposes and financial gain. Pure blasphemy.
And because of man's sinful ways, what was meant to be a GIFT from the Holy Spirit to display God's glory has been twisted into something that is often used to display the (non-existent) glory of man.
But, there's still hope. Because our God is awesome!
There are still a small, but mighty group of warriors for Christ who truly want to see His Kingdom come, no matter what the cost or risk. A group of fighters for Jesus who see through the charades of false prophets, and who still believe that THE HEALER continues to heal when we step out in faith and just ask!!! Don't believe me? And in Matthew 10:8, Jesus told His disciples and YOU (if you are a follower of Christ)…
"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
I believe what Jesus said, and I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit!!!! And I can't wait to see what kinds of things His Spirit will do through me and my fellow squad members as we travel throughout the world to bring glory to the Lord's name!!!!!
