Hello, My name is…
My name is Meg Lewis. (Actually, it is Megan but my sister-in-law, whom I work with, is also Megan Lewis so it gets a little confusing!) I work for the District Attorney in Northeast Georgia, but I graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Sustainable Development. I am addicted to chocolate and Starbucks’ chai tea. (Seriously…) God gave me a merciful heart and a love for His creation so I’ve always wished I could travel the world and help people. After wasting a lot of time chasing other desires, I am grateful that God has given me the opportunity to participate in The World Race, where I will get to serve others and grow in my relationship with God while seeing more of His amazing world.
I found out about The World Race from a student coworker at App State and felt a stirring in my heart to be a part of this missions experience. Over the past few years, God has been setting me free and helping me to better understand his love for me. I am learning to trust Him and go where His Spirit leads as I take this step into the unknown, rather than just believing that He has forgiven me. I would love to say that I have no fear and would leave tomorrow if I had the chance, but I am afraid. Big time. I’m very close to my family and I am going to miss them terribly. I have to quit my job, and it took three years to find a full time position! I have to find a home for my beloved dog, Livingstone, and I will need to sell my car that I just bought a few months ago. I’m 30 and single so committing to being single for at least two more years is hard.
All this is exactly why I know it is time for me to leave it behind. “…Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17). I want freedom. Freedom from idols. Freedom from fear. Freedom from trying to please people. Freedom to discover who God is calling me to be. And even the freedom to let go of my family and trust that God will take care of them and me.
I am excited to see what God is going to do in and through me, and in those I will meet along the way. Thank you for supporting me through prayer, donations, and encouragement!
