It took me a while to figure out what to write for my first official “on-race” blog post. Launch, just how tiring launch could really be, the keys we were given when we arrived…so many options. But as I was going through my quiet time, there was something that stuck out to me.
BUT FIRST…CONTEXT!!!
Today is our sabbath day, so it’s basically our rest day where we can go to church or take much needed time to relax and get our energy up before another week of missions starts. My team and I went to church with a pastor we worked with this past weekend. And everyone else either went to church with our host or stayed to have their own time with God. And it’s all awesome! But that’s not the point.
I’ve been reading a chapter in John every day since we got here, and in today’s quite time, I came across this verse, “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain no in Jerusalem will you worship the Father…But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” John 4:21, 23
It really hit me the moment we were in worship, and I was thinking how the girls I’m with are literally worshipping in different places. We don’t have to go anywhere specific in order to worship properly, because we have the freedom to worship anywhere: while making breakfast, while doing yard work, or even just while taking a walk.
I find myself extremely thankful to be able to worship wherever I want in the world, and I’m going to get to see how hundreds of people worship around the world in their own way. I could even be in the physically lowest valley on the planet and God will still hear me worship even then. It’s just so amazing to think about!
