2/2/12
I go to sleep to the sound of pigs snorting.
I’m awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of a teammate throwing up or freaking out because the walls are caving in.
I wake up to the sound of roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing at all times of the night/morning.
It’s normal for me to go four days without even considering taking a shower.
I ride in the back of a truck for over three hours with eight people plus their packs.

Maybe these things seem a little crazy.
But in the midst of all the craziness I get to experience:
a child’s face light up while playing “vaca, vaca, pollo”(our version of duck, duck, goose)
a woman prepare our food in the humblest of ways
a man wrestle with the idea of needing a relationship with God
the faithfulness of God through his provision on a daily basis
acting out the story of Adam and Eve and God’s amazing love for man
sitting with a couple of ladies to share good laughs and give encouragement

Our translator reading the story of Adam and Eve
So yes, some things happening are bizarre and crazy. But getting to experience all of this makes the craziness of everything go flying out the window. It doesn’t matter anymore. Because in these moments I can feel the love of Christ pouring out from all directions. And I can’t help but breathe it all in because it feels so good!
