Larry Page and Sergey Brin
The two creators of google
And from there google translate was birthed
Which in turn has caused my heart to break in new ways
I’ve met a few men in recent weeks
Who have caused me to literally hurt
No they haven’t physically hurt me
They haven’t even said things to emotional damage me
But still my heart is aching for them
Knowing that there is more for them
And wanting Jesus to be revealed to them so badly
I’ve spent afternoons sitting in a fun little restaurant
Using their wifi to use google translate
And because of google translate I care

Through google translate I have gotten to know these guys
And as I have gotten to know them
And understand more about what they believe
My heart has been destroyed
I have sat with them at tables and booths
And literally had my heart ache for them
I have laid in bed and not been able to fall asleep because I hurt for them
All of their lives they have been deceived by the enemy and their family
They have never been taught the Truth
And as I’ve talked with them all I have wanted is for them to
See who God is and fully embrace him as the One True God
Rahim is a fun guy who enjoys learning about America
He will listen to us talk about Obama and all of the states
He wants to know where I live and where I went to school
But somewhere along the way
The conversation turned from my University
To him being Muslim and us asking him questions about his religion

Rahim didn’t know a whole lot of Islam
He didn’t have many answers for our questions
So we began to tell him where Islam originated from
And then we were able to tell him about Jesus
Through google translate we started with the creation of man
Rahim would write the story in Chinese as I wrote it in English
As time ran out for the day we made sure Rahim kept the papers
We told him to take it home and study the story
And then he could bring it back and ask us any questions he had
We would also explain any words he didn’t understand
The next day he didn’t show up to meet us
I was pretty bummed that I didn’t get to see him
And continue our conversation from the day before
But two days later we got a call from Rahim and he wanted to meet up again
This time we walked in the restaurant and he was waiting on us
The first words out of his mouth were
Today I teach you Chinese!
We just laughed and tried repeating things he told us
As our time was running out and it was our last day to be able to see him
We tried picking up on the story from two days earlier
Rahim was not interested
All he wanted to talk about was American culture and history
He wanted to talk about Michael Jordan and George Washington
He thought they were great people and they were his heroes
We wanted him to know our hero
But there was no interest
He wanted nothing to do with Jesus
It was time for him to go home
So we said our goodbyes and gave him our email addresses
As he walked out I felt like we had no effect on telling him about our hero
I was defeated

Marcus is a free spirit
He made a joke that his hair looks like an American hippie
America interest him and he references it all the time
Whether speaking about American authors, American history or American books
He knows it all

We met Marcus in a park one afternoon and had a great conversation with him
We laughed a lot and he also gave up plenty of informative tips
We left the park with a new friend and another email address
The next day we got a surprise call from Marcus
He came and met up with us to just hang out
He said he was “so, so bored” so he gave us a call
We picked up right where we left off the day before
We laughed lots and just enjoyed time with our new friend
Eventually the conversation turned to Marcus telling us he had no beliefs
He said he wanted to believe in something but right now he didn’t
We told him he didn’t have to wait to believe
As the conversation turned more serious
It was time to break out google translate again
We spent a lot of time with Marcus that day explaining
How to begin to believe in something
We were in no rush to leave our conversation with him
But eventually it ended
And not the way I wanted it to
Marcus ended the conversation with the statements
We can still be friends even though we don’t believe the same things
And
Maybe one day I will believe in something
Neither were things I wanted to hear
Yes, I want to be friends with Marcus
But I want him to believe in my God
And yes I believe it’s not too late for him to decide to believe in Jesus
But I wanted him to believe in that moment

Google translate was closed
The computer was shut down
And it was all over
My heart completely destroyed
