It’s not a secret that I despise feet. I think they are dirty and ugly and jacked up. I am not excluding my own here so don’t think I am hating on just your feet. Don’t get your toes stepped on here (ha ha get it).

I mean look at this. Completely filthy and just down right nasty.

Yes, those are real pictures. Yes, those are my feet. Yes, they are disturbingly gross.

I know this.

And in case I didn’t realize this on my own I had a dear friend point out to me two nights ago that, “Your feet are ugly and disgusting.”

Which is why this morning it blew my mind when I looked down at my feet and the verse that came to my head was from Isaiah 52:7 and Romans 10:15. Beautiful feet. Seriously God? Beautiful feet? Hmmm I don’t know what you are seeing but this sure isn’t what I picture as beautiful.

Beautiful is the smile on the face of a little boy as he runs into your arms. Beautiful is seeing a mother hold her child close.  Beautiful is watching a man and woman who have been married for 50 years sit on a park bench holding hands. But feet? Nope, not an image of beautiful.

At least from the outside there is nothing beautiful to be seen.

But that’s when it all hit me.

God doesn’t care how my feet look.

He cares what they do.

He says they are beautiful because they are bringing the good news.

And that is what makes my feet beautiful to my Father who perfectly created them.
