Being in Zambia was probably my favorite month yet! We worked with Love’s Door.
4 days out of the week we tented in a compound in the middle of a village beside the Zambezi River. It was like we were camping for a month, I love camping! When we went to the different villages we learned about how the people use the river to wash dishes and clothes and even pump water to their gardens to grow ocra.
We also helped build a man’s mud house. This was my favorite thing to do. I love working with my hands and I’ve never built a mud house before. He was so thankful for our help; he had been praying that help would come and God answered his prayers!
On Saturdays we did tutoring, life skills and Bible study with the kids that were sponsored. We helped them write letters to their sponsors, I thought this was really cool because Shane and Briana (my brother and sister-in-law) sponsor kids and it was fun to be on the other side of that. I got to help Joshua, one of the Zambia church planters that works with Love’s Door, with the beginners in the group. It was fun to be able to work with kids and be able to read the things that they were learning.
And, sometimes we just had to have some fun…
Thanks for helping me have this opportunity to serve!
