Rewind on Past times

A recap on this last month in Nicaragua through photos:

We arrived in Jinotepe, Nicaragua on September 1, 2012 and settled in at Nueva Vida, our home for the month. To our surprise, we finally had BEDS to sleep in!

Finally we have beds!!! It was a slumber party every night with Team Sanctified :31.

At first we thought the month would be all fun and games, playing fútbol with the local boys every day…

….but then our wonderful Momma Bonnie gave us a packed schedule of visiting the local barrios (neighborhoods) and praying for people, walking 45 minutes to hang out at the nursing home….

Hannah, Mary and me with our favorite man: Guillermo. He is full of stories of adventure, love, poetry and war.

….helping out with children's church on Sunday mornings (one Sunday we had a birthday party for one of the children and we had a piñata and face painting, somehow I got put in charge of painting not a just rainbows and flowers, but the Holy Spirit dove—looks like if nothing else works out after the race I can at least start a career in face-painting for the circus)….

Christina helping Christopher hit the piñata on his first birthday.

….playing and loving on the children at a local orphanage for children with special needs (you know my team LOVED this after being away from our children from last month)…

Me and Coco swinging at the Mustard Seed.

….doing some manual labor, taking out all the weeds from our courtyard at Nueva Vida….

Our manual project for the month. It was completely covered in deep-rooted ivy and we removed it all! All girls!

….visiting the local hospital, praying for, loving on and spreading joy to the people there….

…helping out with some of the women from the church at their jobs, like selling clothes at the market with Soldedad and baking bread with Marina…

Soledad in her new cothing store in the market.

Christina and I helping Marina bag (and eat) the bread.

…we even made up our own ministry some days, we tutored a local girl who was struggling in her math class and we played cards and prayed for locals in the central park.

We also got to have a little fun every now and then =). Jonhy, one of the guys that live at Nueva Vida, climbed a tree and found a new mascot for our soccer team:

Somehow I had the guts to hold the new mascot after Jonhy pushed it out from the tree tops.

Both teams with Jonhy and the new mascot for Nueva Vida,

We also hiked a volcano near Granada and visited 2 oth Race teams on la Isla de Ometepe on two of our off-days.

Me on top of the Volcano Mombacho, you can barely tell because we are in the clouds.

We also were treated to incredible dinners at the houses of families from the church. They quickly became our families and I will never forget the love shown to us by these strong, humble and beautiful families.
