This month my team and I are doing “Unsung Heros” ministry. This basically means that we don’t have a contact. Instead, we are traveling to 2 different cities within Botswana (Kasane and Francistown) and asking the Lord to lead us. It’s kind of scary to just “wander around,” but this is an amazing opportunity to trust God. In preparation for what’s to come, I decided to ask the Lord what he wanted to teach me this month, and what he had to say was really good.

–       TRUST. Sweet and simple, this is where you lack child. I want you to revert back to that child like faith when it comes to trusting me. I have much to show you. Trust me with your talents. Trust me with your heart. Trust me with your thoughts. Trust me where I lead. Trust me when I’m quiet. Trust me when I’m loud and the hairs on your arms stand up and you get butterflies in your tummy. Trust in the midst of chaos. You wont drown. I will be with you.

–       ARMOR YOURSELF. I want to teach you spiritual discipline. You have been told that you sometimes don’t finish as strong as you start. Why do you think that is?

My answer: I get bored. I don’t believe in myself. The honeymoon stage losses it’s thrill and the end goal seems too big.

Push through the “monotony.” There is more! So much more! Yes, some days you won’t want to. You’ll want to throw in the towel and say “screw it” or “I’ll pick up again tomorrow.” Get past the lies and attacks of Satan.

View this time like planting a garden. First you get excited about the prospects, thinking big picture. You map out what you want your garden to look like, go to the store, and scourge the aisles for just the right plants. The first few days/weeks you take care of those prized possessions, watering them with care each day, daydreaming about what your small garden will yield with the right amount of time and care. Then the weeds start to grow, life starts to get a little busier, and the seasons change. You have a choice now: 1. You can stick with your plants, carving out time to weed, water, nurture, and protect them from the elements, all in hopes of setting out to have this beautiful, dream garden. OR 2. You can let the weeds overtake the flowers and suffocate the roots. You can move the priority of the tending your garden to the bottom of your “to do” list, and eventually throw in the towel saying “well, maybe next year.”

It’s time. Now is your time, my darling. Choose the path that is a little more work each day, knowing that soon it will not be work, but a joy…part of your everyday. You will see fruit. Don’t give up! Finish strong!

–       MY HEART. Memorize Psalm 86:11. I want to unite our hearts more than they already are. I want to show you more of my compassion, more of my love for my people- your brothers and sisters, more of my power, more wisdom and more understanding.

I was overwhelmed with what the Lord spoke to me. Already I have felt Him fulfilling these promises, and I can not wait to see what more is in store. I’ll keep you all updated!

Don’t be afraid to ask the Lord what He has in store for the new season in your life either! I think you’ll be surprised by what He says!
