Time flies when you are on the race!! We are already two weeks into Peru, but I want to share some amazing things that happened in Ecuador. So here’s what our month in Ecuador looked like in hindsight!
We got to stay at a WONDERFUL house called Inca Link. Our house mom and dad were Mabe and Fabi. Both are so full of charisma, love, and Jesus! The three weeks were spent with feeling like we were at a home away from home.
We got to serve at Pan de Vida (bread of life). We did a ton of house projects: cleaning tables and chairs, organizing an attic, painting a tool shed, and getting to paint the children’s tables. Not only that, but we also got to be a part of their food service programs for Ecuadorians, Colombians, and Venezuelans. We would assist in food prep and also teach in the children’s church programs. On our last week there, we had the opportunity to teach English at a school. We were welcomed with a ton of love and even more questions so they could practice their English! It was the best way to end our time in Ecuador!

We even went on a few adventures! We got to go to the Middle of the Earth where our guide showed us history of the founding tribe and of course the equator! The next adventure was to a quaint town, Mindo. There we got to go ziplining over 10 different lines. We then went to a chocolate tour where we helped in the process of making 100% pure chocolate. After, we spent the night enjoying the small town culture and I seriously loved this small mountain town!! The last adventure day was spent visiting downtown Quito, which include the Basilica. The cathedral was so unique and beautifully crafted 🙂

We got to be a part of Carnaval on more than one occasion! Carnaval is an Ecuadorian holiday which includes lots of foam, eggs, flour, colored paint, and more. So many times we would be singled out on the streets and would get COVERED in foam and paint!

We got to meet so many beautiful and wonderful people in Pan de Vida! You can’t help but feel 100% loved and seen when you are with Ecuadorian people.

We ended our month with a mini debrief in a place called Banos, Ecuador. It was fun to get back together with the squad to share about everyone’s months of ministry. We also got to end it on a literal high note by taking a swing off the edge of the world!

Month two went by as quickly as it came! The days may feel long, but the weeks sure do fly but I loved every moment of it. We are now in Pacasmayo, Peru and we have had a great first week of ministry! I can’t wait to share in following blogs all that Peru is about. Stay tuned!!
Much Love,
McKenzie
