Today at church as I was sitting in my seat listening to the sermon about sharing my faith it hit me that this sermon is precisely what I am preparing to do in my life all of next year.

The first message of this sermon was to not hoard your faith and share it with everyone. This helped me realize that I do not have to wait to share the gospel. I can share the gospel here in America because everyone needs Jesus regardless of if they live in a third world country. I do not have to hoard the love and light God has given me, I can and will share it because I want to be a messenger of God. We all can share God’s message together we can all help grow God’s Kingdom right here in America as long as we share the gospel.

After this point in the sermon, the pastor read 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 which states

“Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”

After these verses he went on to explain to the congregation that Paul changed himself to help people feel more comfortable learning about Jesus and the fact that when in different countries we adapt to their customs in traditions. Upon hearing this I began to realize that God is beginning to prepare my heart to change when I’m in these countries, ministering to those different than me.  He is helping me realize that I am going to have to adapt to customs and traditions in order to help people hear the true message of the gospel.

The last part of the message today showed me the true meaning of being a messenger of Christ so I will leave you with that quote.

“Sometimes we have to compromise the inessentials to get our point across, but we do not compromise the message of Christ.”
