For the past two weeks the members of Route 1 have created a Snapchat groupchat. In this group chat there are 17-20 year olds from all different parts of the US sending videos of ourselves talking about God, The World Race, and school. Within this time I have found out a ton about these awesome people, that I get to do life with in 10 months. I have also found out that apparently I have an accent. Hear me out real quick. I have lived in Iowa my entire life therefore my accent is unnoticeable to myself and those around me, but when you put me in a group chat with people from Texas, Colorado, California, Arkansas, and Georgia, my voice tends to stick out. When they told me I had an accent I was surprised, but here is the cool thing I noticed.
We all have accents.
In this journey we will constantly be talking about the gospel to people of all different backgrounds who speak a different language and have different accents than us, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is we will be spreading the message of Jesus to all those we encounter. We will be spreading God’s love with our accents and the cool thing is God’s message can be taught no matter what we sound like. Love can be shared and will be shared to the people we meet no matter how our voices sound. With our twang and dialect we will get to experience people learning about the gospel and hopefully see people accept Jesus into their hearts for the first time.
So I guess I have an accent and so does the rest of my team, but all that matters is the accents we have will someday be united in God’s kingdom. One day some of the people we are going to speak with will be in Heaven with us, and the accents will all unite and worship the one True King forever.
