This past week as marked one of the stranger ones with the scripture God has spoken to me. It started off with my phone randomly given a new versus everyday and they have spoken directly to me for a month now but last Monday i was confused because it didn't really speak to me, it didn't have the punch in the stomach conviction or the overwhelming peace as so many had before. Instead of writing it off as just dim luck that these scriptures before had been from God and this one was not I asked him to reveal to me what this meant to my life. This week has brought me back to the cross and to cling tighter than ever before because this is the hope and the joy I hold on to; his death and resurrection.
Tuesday: 1 John 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the son of God, God abides in him and he in God.
Wednesday: Acts 2:36 So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah.
Acts 2:26-28 Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted moreover my flesh also will abide in hope; because thou wilt not abandon my soul to Hades, nor allow thy holy one to undergo decay. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt make me full of gladness with thy presence. Acts 2:32 This Jesus God raised up again, to which you both see and hear.
BAM!!
This was it, right there those words captivated me.
It's Peter who stands among his fellow believers and declares Jesus' holiness, sonship, resurrection, and how we are witnesses to this. He reminds us and demands us that we must continue to bear witness to the the fact that Jesus IS the son of God, He WAS crucified, He DID die, and He WAS resurrected, and He IS risen.
No theology, philosophy or quote will ever effect this world like the truth of Jesus.
With that I am reminded that the gospel I am bringing around the nations is one of hope and joy, one that is truth and conviction, one that came at a cost but above all else is life-giving even in death.
JESUS IS RISEN AND I AM A WITNESS TO THAT!
