I’m 21. My name is pronounced Muh-cray-uh but I go by a lot of other things sometimes.  I spent most of my 21 years in Western Washington, but I’ve spent the last four in Nampa, ID (somewhere I literally told my mom I would never live, but then I learned to never say never) where I am finishing up a degree in Biology and playing soccer and, in my rare free time, making the best friends ever.

Things you should know, maybe:

  • I don’t know how to blog, so this is fun
  • I really love mountains and fir trees. I am also basically a cliche PNWer. Think wool socks, Birkenstocks, all things outdoorsy but without any sun, granola, rain, etc.
  • I’m an avid fan of learning and I get really excited when I remember that there will never not be things for me to learn.
  • I was raised in a Lutheran church and school, and now I attend a Nazarene university. When I applied I asked my dad what the Nazarenes believed. He said they believed in grace and that I would be okay. He was right.
  • I passionately love bad puns. (i.e. What’s brown and sticky? A stick)
  • Right now I think I want to be a naturopath when I grow up. Bodies are so cool and the people who have them are even better and healing them and being good to them is really awesome.
  • My love languages include words of affirmation, coffee sharing, book sharing, and food sharing.
  • I’ve played soccer for 18 years and when that ends this year, I will mourn.
  • I love Jesus, far more than I love bad puns, and the most exciting thing to me ever is that every day I get to learn how to have a really full life through His grace and example.

I am so excited for the ridiculous journey that is to come, and for the months of preparation ahead of me. I know I’ll never be completely ready for all that is to come but I am so thankful that I have been surrounded by so many people who have spoken truth and encouragement into my life, have challenged me in thought and action, and have loved and supported me always. God is cool. He made cool people. I can’t wait to meet more of them.
