Last week my amazing sister, Hope, called me and told me that someone at Mikey’s (my brother-in-law) office was about to go on maternity leave and they needed someone to fill her spot until she returned. She thought that I would be a perfect fit and I loved this idea. I have been asking God to give me more people around my age to be around and to give me more people to share my story with and this will give me the chance to do both. How awesome is God?
Well yesterday was my first day and it was amazing. I got to see what I would be doing for the job but God also showed me something else that I would be working on. After talking to the girls about why I would only be there temporarily (because I am going on the World Race in October) they began to ask questions. Mostly about what exactly the World Race is but also where I would be going. The fact that I would be gone for an entire year really surprised some of them and had them asking even more questions. These questions led to asking about my background in church and from what I gathered many of them are either not in church at all or just go because it’s a habit not because of their personal relationship with The Father. Well when I heard this I could feel Him poking me on the shoulder saying “You need to do something about this. These are MY kids and I miss them.”
This really caught me by surprise. I have never really been one to talk about church to people who aren’t really involved. It is something I have really struggled with. I have always lacked the confidence in myself. Well as I have been praying for God to stretch me this has been a HUGE this that I want to stretch in my life. Well I was planning on this to start when I went to training camp or when I left for the race. I didn’t think it was going to start right now. Well like most other things my plans aren’t always on the right timeline. These lovely ladies I will be working with the next few months have no idea, but they are going to be a big part of my World Race prep. I get to share my story with them about how Jesus has saved me from a ton of things I did to set myself back. I also will get the opportunity to share how God will provide if you trust in Him. I am super excited and honored how God has decided to use me to reach these people and am praying that I have the right thing to say to them so that way they can see the Fathers love the same way I have seen it.
Please be praying for me that this new job goes smoothly and that I am able to show Christ’s love to them. Also, I am hoping to get out my fundraising letters this weekend. Right now, I have about 100 people on my list and if you are reading this you are probably one of them BUT if you want to make sure that you get a letter please email me or text me your name and address, so I can put you on the list if you are not already on it. Being put on the list does not mean that you are committing to anything, it just means that you are going to be in the loop as to what is going on in my fundraising adventure and when I am actually out on the World Race.
