Hey, my name is Matthew Burke! I am from Greenwood, South Carolina. I am 20 years old and I am currently in my third and final year in my undergraduate program. In May, I will graduate from Lander University with my Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration. Growing up, I was really involved in my home church. In March of 2018, I learned of an amazing christian summer camp called Camp Fellowship. I applied and got hired to work there. I have spent the past two summers living my heart out and getting to spend time with, play with, minister to, and share the gospel with children of all ages. There is something about teaching others about God’s love for us that is very heart warming. Working at Camp Fellowship was very rewarding and allowed me to open my heart and mind to be more accepting of others, just the way that God made them. When I am not studying (ha!) I love to spend time with my family and friends, go hiking, canoeing/kayaking, sightseeing, swimming, and going for runs. I have always had a passion for wanting to help others and I have a heart too big to tell anyone “no.” Getting to go on a semesters trip to the Philippines is not something that I ever thought I would have the opportunity to do. I have always planned on going straight to work once I graduated in May but God has shown me that he has other plans for me. I can not wait to embark upon this adventure and see how God can use me to minister to others and change lives!
