Hi Familia!

Matt here to fill you in on the next step in our journey to Departure is, which is in less than 90 DAYS!!!!!  WAHOOOO!

But before that, in week from today, we will be in Gainesville Georgia for our 10 day TRAINING CAMP in which we will meet our full team and begin learning, and of course training, for this journey to love the people God has called us to!  Here we will get to daily experience a simulation of all the different cultures we will be entering in the form of meals and exercises geared to prepare us for street life and some of the other cultural things we will encounter.  We also will be trained more in depth on the backgrounds and traditions of the people we will connect with constantly.  We will be sleeping in our tents and practicing what it will be like to live without the amenities that most of the world already lives without!  It is going to be AWESOME!!!!!

To help you fully understand how we feel in this time I need you to do a little exercise with me.  Channel you inner athlete for this.

I need you to First begin by scrunching down your eyebrows as far down as you can as if you are trying touch them to your upper lip.  Secondly, ball your right hand into a fist and begin to punch the air as if it were your arch nemesis and you just met them for a street battle that has your hometown’s safety on the line.  Lastly, Whisper to yourself the phrase “What time is it?” and follow it by a loud yell to sky with the following words, “Game-Time.”

If you are not sure what this should look like, go to our instagram account:  adventureisus16 and there you will see me doing it!

But in all seriousness, we are very excited for this time at training camp and in honor of that we just wanted to share a few Bible verses on training and let the Word speak for itself! 🙂

1 Timothy 4:7-8

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Hebrews 5:14

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Psalms 144:1

Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle

Hebrews 12:11

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Luke 6:40

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

Training is a daily choice that we all make to submit to God and discipline ourselves for His purposes knowing that He loves us every step of the way.  As a Family and Team lets step in the ring today and keep training ourselves for God’s great purpose!

Please pray for this time and that God’s glory will be seen! Love you all!
