It’s funny how when one door closes, God opens another, and it’s never the one you expect. I’ve heard that expression a lot, but it’s cool to see what it looks like in everyday life. Our team was planning to go into the jungle this past week to live with an indigenous tribe and preach the Gospel for a few weeks, but that did not end up happening. A lot of it had to do with safety because it has been raining so much here lately that it would be unsafe to hike the trail or take canoes that would bring us to the village. I was pretty disappointed at first, but God has really been giving us so many more opportunities where we are now. Our team is currently at a pastor’s house in Guabito, Panama working with planting a new church here.

Along with helping to plant the church here, a few people on our team have been given opportunities to preach (including me). My first ever time preaching was this past Friday and is was such an awesome experience! I now appreciate how much preparation goes into writing a sermon and planning how to convey it to an audience. Honestly, I had a really good time up there and it almost got to a point where it was easy to talk. The hardest part right now is speaking with a translator, but other that it, is has been a great time God has been using to show me how to connect Scripture to everyday life. I spoke on God’s faithfulness and how He has really been faithful in my life through and through. I’m quite sure this will not be the last time preaching, and I can’t wait for that opportunity.
